1.high strength. The strength of staple fibers is 2.6~5.7 CN/dtex and that of high strength fibers is 5.6~8.0 CN/dtex. Because of its low hygroscopicity, its wet strength is basically the same as that of dry strength. The impact strength is 4 times higher than nylon and 20 times higher than viscose.
2.Good elasticity. Elasticity is close to wool, and when the elongation is 5%~6%, it can almost completely recover. Wrinkle resistance is better than other fibers, that is, the fabric does not wrinkle and has good dimensional stability. The modulus of elasticity is 22-141 CN/dtex, which is 2-3 times higher than that of nylon. Polyester fabrics have high strength and resilience, so they are durable, wrinkle-resistant and ironing-free.
3.Heat resistance. Polyester fibers are made by melt spinning. The formed fibers can be heated and melted again. They belong to thermoplastic fibers. The melting point of polyester fibers is higher, but the specific heat capacity and thermal conductivity are smaller, so the heat resistance and thermal insulation of polyester fibers are higher. It's the best synthetic fiber.
4.Good thermoplasticity and poor melting resistance. Because of its smooth surface and close arrangement of internal molecules, polyester is the best heat-resistant fabric in synthetic fabrics. It has thermoplasticity and can be made into pleated skirts with long pleats. At the same time, polyester fabrics have poor melting resistance and are easy to form holes in the presence of soot and Mars. Therefore, when wearing, should try to avoid contact with cigarette butts, sparks and so on.
5.Good abrasion resistance. The wear resistance of nylon fibers is second only to that of nylon fibers with the best wear resistance, which is better than other natural fibers and synthetic fibers.
6.Good light resistance. Light resistance is second only to acrylic fibers. The light resistance of polyester fabric is better than that of natural fiber fabric except acrylic fiber. Especially in the back of the glass, the sun resistance is very good, almost equal to that of acrylic fibers.
7.Corrosion resistance. It is resistant to bleaching agents, oxidants, hydrocarbons, ketones, petroleum products and inorganic acids. Resistant to dilute alkali, not afraid of mildew, but hot alkali can decompose it. It also has strong acid and alkali resistance and ultraviolet resistance.
8.The dyeing property is poor, but the color fastness is good and it is not easy to fade. Because there is no specific Dyeing Group on the molecular chain of polyester and its polarity is small, dyeing is difficult, dyeability is poor, and dye molecules are not easy to enter the fiber.
9.It has poor hygroscopicity, hot feeling, static electricity and dirty dust, which affects its beauty and comfort. However, after washing, it is easy to dry, and the wet strength almost does not decrease. It does not deform and has good washability and wearability.
Summary: Fabrics woven from ordinary polyester filament have many advantages, such as good strength, smooth and crisp, easy to wash and dry, but they have some shortcomings, such as hard handle, poor touch, soft gloss, poor air permeability and moisture absorption.
